History of the Dingley Kindergarten Centres

In 1964 the plans for the first kindergarten in Dingley Village were signed and given the stamp of approval. It didn’t take long before Marcus Road Kindergarten built a committee and opened it's doors in 1965 to welcome and teach the local children.

On the 23rd of March, 1971 the Dingley Kindergarten Centres opened Jacks Avenue Kindergarten and our first constitution was developed.

We have fortunately been able to continually hold a committee of volunteer parents, who have led our kindergarten to great success.

As the years have passed, we have had several renovations completed to both inside and outside our facilities with thanks to grants, donations and fundraising activities.

Since 1964 early childhood education has implemented many changes. In 1972 the Australian Child Care Act was introduced, followed by the implementation of a national framework (being, belonging & becoming and the EYLF), then inclusion of a state curriculum called the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.

With the development of the National Quality Standards in 2012 we have seen the quality of early years services increase significantly.

In 2024, we closed the doors to 37 Marcus Road, Dingley Village, and relocated to a purpose built hub where we occupy 2 learning environments along side an occasional care, playgroup and maternal child health service.
